This Privacy Policy explains what information TripScout may collect and process when you use the app, how that information is used, and when it may be shared with service providers that support core app features.

Definitions

Company (“we”, “us”, “our”) refers to the operator of TripScout.

Service refers to the TripScout iOS application and related public pages.

Personal Data means information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.

Usage Data means technical and interaction data generated when you use the Service.

Service Provider means a third party that processes information on our behalf to support app functionality.

Information we collect

Travel data and app content
  • Countries, stays, dates, trips, route records, travel limits, visa-limit settings, saved locations, and app preferences.
  • Flight reminder details you add, such as flight numbers, airports, dates, gates, terminals, and related schedule updates.
  • Route-video requests, route previews, video status, and downloaded route-video records.
Location, photos, and camera permissions
  • Location data if you grant permission, including current-country detection, local airport, weather, route, regional safety, and travel-context features.
  • Photo library metadata you allow TripScout to scan, such as photo dates and captured locations, to restore recent travel history.
  • Camera access when you choose to scan boarding passes or similar travel documents.
Technical, analytics, and device information
  • Device type, operating system version, app version, build number, language, locale, region, time zone, and similar diagnostic details.
  • Anonymous installation identifiers, Firebase anonymous user identifiers, push notification tokens, notification status, and app activity timestamps.
  • Feature usage events, performance information, crash logs, and error reports if enabled through Apple or integrated tools.
Purchases, support, and communications
  • Information required to verify in-app purchases, subscriptions, and premium access.
  • Support-chat metadata and the information you choose to send when contacting support, such as your email address and message contents.
  • Advertising or attribution identifiers only where permitted by your iOS settings and consent choices.
TripScout is designed as a travel tracking and planning app. Travel history, location information, and photo-location metadata may reveal sensitive details about where you have been or plan to go. Use only the permissions and features you are comfortable enabling.

How we use information

  • To provide travel tracking, country reports, stay limits, visa-limit context, route maps, route videos, weather, currency, airport, ATM, regional safety, and flight reminder features.
  • To restore recent travel history from photo dates and captured locations when you choose to use photo restore.
  • To detect travel context, send reminders, deliver push notifications, and keep app state consistent across launches.
  • To sync eligible travel data, app settings, and flight notification data through iCloud or CloudKit where available.
  • To operate backend services, including entry-requirement lookups, visa-map lookups, passport-rank lookups, flight lookup, regional safety lookup, route-video rendering, currency data, and notification delivery.
  • To verify premium access, subscriptions, and purchase entitlements.
  • To respond to support requests, diagnose issues, measure reliability, prevent abuse, and improve the user experience.

Sharing & service providers

We may share limited information with service providers only when necessary to operate, maintain, and improve TripScout. These providers may include Apple services such as iCloud, CloudKit, WeatherKit, StoreKit, in-app purchases, and push notifications; Firebase services for authentication, analytics, messaging, functions, Firestore, App Check, and storage; RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management; Crisp for customer support chat; Mapbox and Apple mapping/location services for maps and place search; and other infrastructure, analytics, crash reporting, or attribution tools used by the app.

Route-video rendering, flight-alert subscriptions, visa and entry-requirement lookups, passport-rank checks, regional safety checks, airport data, currency data, and similar live features may require sending the relevant request data to backend services or third-party data providers.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights, to investigate abuse, or to respond to valid legal requests.

Purchases & subscriptions

TripScout may offer premium features, subscriptions, or one-time purchases. Purchases made in the iOS app are generally processed through Apple. Subscription status and entitlement verification may also involve a subscription infrastructure provider used to unlock premium functionality.

We do not receive your full payment card details from Apple.

Data retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the Service, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, troubleshooting, preventing abuse, and enforcing agreements.

Travel data and preferences may remain on your device, in your iCloud account, or in app backups until you delete the data or delete the app, subject to iOS and iCloud behavior. Some backend records, support messages, purchase records, analytics, logs, and route-video processing records may be retained for operational, legal, or fraud-prevention reasons.

Your choices

  • You can stop using the Service at any time.
  • You can manage Location, Photos, Camera, Notifications, and Tracking permissions in iOS Settings.
  • You can choose not to use optional features such as photo restore, camera scanning, support chat, route-video rendering, or flight reminders.
  • You can delete TripScout data through the app where available, or delete the app to remove locally stored data from your device, subject to iOS, iCloud, and backup behavior.
  • You can manage subscriptions through your Apple ID account settings.
  • You can contact us regarding privacy questions using the email listed below.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Children’s privacy

TripScout is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review and address the issue.
